Wire rope is used in structural support, as well as industrial lifting applications. A wire rope sling or assembly has a termination at the end of the wire rope to help with these applications. The termination could be an eye, clip, or a socket.
This particular wire rope sling is fitted with an open swage socket. A swage socket is named for the way the socket is attached to the wire rope. A swager, or hydraulic machine forces the socket to fit with the wire rope. This is a great type of socket because of the way it is formed. Its construction allows for a more resistant sling where the socket and wire meet, providing you with a safer lift and more durable, long lasting sling overall.
The swage socket on this sling is known as an open socket. This means that the socket has a pin or bolt in it. This pin allows the open socket to be attached to another type of fitting or a hook block for crane lifts.
You can purchase swage socket slings in a variety of sizes. You can get a wire rope socket sling with a length of up to 20 feet where the length is measured from center pin to center pin. You can also get varying diameters to give you the working load limit you need for your next project.
The open & open swage slings are just one variety of socket sling we provide. We also have open & closed swage slings and closed & closed swage slings. We also provide spelter socket slings, and wire rope slings with other terminal fittings. Questions?
