Cotton Rope

Natural Fiber Cotton Rope

Cotton rope is a great choice for a general use rope. Available in twisted or braided configurations, it's softer than most synthetic rope options and is ideal for applications where the rope will be handled frequently.

Constructed from either 100% cotton or a cotton / polyester blend, it's a reliable product that knots well for ease of use and is moderately abrasion- and UV-resistant.

However, it does have its disadvantages: when exposed to moisture (including humidity) for long periods of time, this rope will deteriorate quickly. It's susceptible to mold, mildew, and rot.

Types of General Purpose Rope

We carry two versions of cotton rope - both well-suited for general purpose jobs.

Twisted Cotton Rope

Twisted is made from 100% cotton and is easy to splice. It offers more stretch than a braided version.

Braided Cotton Rope

Braided is also known as sash cord. Made from cotton with a synthetic polyester core, this type of rope is more flexible and has a smooth, polished finish.

Common Rope Applications

Due to the combination of softness and susceptibility to moisture, cotton is best suited for more recreational purposes:
