Motorcycle Tie Down Straps
Motorcycles are a specialized form of cargo - their unique design and value require motorcycle straps that can hold them securely in place without causing damage.
Motorcycle Strap Construction
Generally made from 1" or 2" width polyester webbing, motorcycle straps are strong yet easy to handle. Polyester has a low stretch factor, making it easy to tension. It stays tight, even when being transported.
They are available in a variety of colors so you can coordinate your motorcycle transport straps to match your favorite bike colors or logo: an orange motorcycle ratchet tie down strap looks sharp as Harley Davidson tie down straps - or KTM for those with motocross bikes. Other popular colors of straps to match bike manufacturers include red (Honda) and blue (Yamaha).
Motorcycle Ratchet Straps vs. Cam Straps
Ratchet assemblies and cam buckles are both options for tightening your motorcycle straps.
While cam buckles offer a quick tensioning method, they will not tighten as much as a ratchet strap. For that reason, cam buckles are sometimes recommended over a motorcycle ratchet strap if you'll be using it on cargo that's more fragile or has a delicate surface.
If you need to ensure your bike is secure, a motorcycle ratchet tie down is the way to go. Unlike cam straps, they don't rely on operator strength for tensioning - the ratcheting mechanism lets you achieve the perfect tightness.
Bike Tie Down Hardware
Hooks on motorbike tie down straps will vary, but generally coated S-hooks or double-J hooks are the best choice because the vinyl or rubber coating reduces the chance of scratches or dings on painted surfaces. Hooks also make it easy to secure straps if you're using a tie down rail system like L-track or E-track.
Motorcycle Handlebar Straps
Motorbike handlebar straps are designed to loop around your handlebars and the tie down hook, eliminating contact between the hook and the bike. Since they don't have any additional hardware, you won't have to worry about scratches or other damage while on the move.
Soft Tie Down Straps
For an extra measure of protection, pick up some of our soft tie down straps. They are handlebar straps with an added plush cover. The natural color prevents any dye from rubbing off on your bike.
