Plasma® Eye & Eye Slings
Our Plasma® eye & eye slings are a great choice for many lifting applications. Plasma or Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE) is a high-strength synthetic material that makes a great sling. UHMWPE slings are great because they can be used in many of the same applications as wire rope, but they are a more lightweight and flexible option. Plasma slings are the same strength size for size as wire rope slings, at a fraction of the weight. Plasma slings are versatile, ergonomic and corrosion resistant making them a top choice by the professional rigger.
If you don’t see exactly what you need for a sling option, we also have custom options available. Reach out to our customer service team or fill out the custom Plasma sling form to get the exact sling you need for your next job.
Domestic-Made Synthetic Lifting Slings
The Plasma slings we offer you are 100% made in the USA. These slings are entirely domestic-made from the fibers to the fabrication, additionally each sling is individually proof tested to 200%.
We offer you great choices in Plasma eye & eye slings. You have two main types of rope in these slings: 12 strand or 12x12 strand. The 12 strand Plasma rope is a synthetic rope made from Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene; it is lightweight but very strong. The Plasma 12x12 rope is 12 strands of the 12-strand rope braided together. This is a larger rope that provides a more high-strength option.
These ropes make up our different Plasma eye & eye slings, and you can find these slings with different splicing methods, which you can learn about below.
Splicing Methods
A splice or splicing is the process that is used to join to ends of a rope together, or the process used to make an eye. We offer you a few different versions of Plasma eye & eye slings that use different splicing methods.
- Lock Stitch Buried Eye Splice – This method of splicing is used on Plasma 12 strand rope. It only requires tools including scissors, adhesive tape, a knife, a large ruler, a marking pen, and a splicing fid.
- Modified Tuck Splice – This type of splice can be used on Plasma 12 strand rope or 12x12 strand. It is used when the Moran 5-4-3 Tuck Splice is too long.
There are other splicing methods for Plasma slings, but these are the ones currently used on the Plasma slings we have for you.
One major advantage of choosing Plasma slings over other types is the ease of splicing and repairs. Return any slings in question for a free evaluation and repair estimate.
Plasma Slings Safety
Plasma slings are a great choice as they do not recoil or whiplash like wire rope and chain slings when they fail. Wire has, can, and will have deadly affects when catastrophic failure occurs. Plasma slings are easy to inspect and one of the best ergonomic tools on the market to replace heavy, cumbersome wire rope.
If you have questions about the Plasma slings that we offer, you can reach out to our expert customer service team. We are happy to provide you with any additional information you may need.
Also, in addition to our Plasma slings, we also offer other types of slings if you need them for other applications; you can find wire rope slings, chain slings, nylon rigging straps, and polyester round slings on our website.
