Teamed with an extra wire hook or swivel hook, cleated rubber blocks can turn any ratchet strap into a car carrier strap for hauling autos. Simply disconnect the loose end of the ratchet strap from the ratchet and slide three rubber blocks onto the strap. Then slide the extra hook on last and feed the strap back into the ratchet. Now you can run the strap over the tire and fit the rubber block's knobs into the rain groove of the tire. For the most secure fit, fasten one in front of the tire, one behind the tire, and one a few feet behind the tire to create a 3-point contact. Heavy duty black rubber has cleats on both sides so you don't have to worry about how they are placed on the strap.
California Residents: WARNING
I lost the ones that came with my tow dolly. Absolutely essential for a secure tow!
I bought these to tie down my RZR 1000 on a trailer. Wheel tie downs are the only way to go with a long travel vehicle. Tying down the frame just results in loose straps. You can also damage the seals on your shocks by smashing them down and driving. These rubber cleats slide onto the the 2" ratchet straps you place the ratchet strap around the tires and tighten it up. The RZR doesn't even move anymore, these are great and pretty cheap insurance. You could use the ratchet straps on the tires without cleats but it doesn't hold as well and really wears the strap webbing fast. These cleats are also hard to find.
