Stainless Steel Hardware
The Benefit of Stainless Steel Hardware
US Cargo Control sells a variety of stainless steel hardware suitable for marine and industrial rigging applications. The benefit of stainless steel hardware is its superior ability to inhibit corrosion. In order for steel to be considered stainless, it must contain at least 10% chromium. Chromium forms an outer oxide layer that helps deter against rust. Even when stainless steel is scratched, it will still retain its corrosion resistance.
Types of Stainless Steel Rigging Hardware
We sell stainless steel turnbuckles, stainless steel shackles, stainless steel eye bolts, stainless steel nuts, and more in Type 304 and Type 316 stainless steel.
Stainless Type 304
This stainless steel contains 18% chromium, helping it adequately resist corrosion and oxidation. While Type 304 is suitable for outdoor agricultural and construction environments, it is not ideal for saltwater and other high chloride environments.
Stainless Type 316
Often referred to as stainless steel marine hardware, it contains 16% chromium, plus the addition of molybdenum. Molybdenum is what makes Type 316 ideal for applications around saltwater and other high chloride environments.
