HG-227 Crosby Turnbuckles
Crosby jaw and eye turnbuckles are designed for unparalleled performance in a variety of applications.
Jaw & Eye End Fittings
Each HG-227 turnbuckle comes with a jaw on one end and an eye on the other for compatibility with a variety of connection points.
The forged jaw ends are fitted with bolts and nuts (sizes 1/4" through 5/8") or pins and cotters (sizes 3/4" through 2-3/4"), ensuring secure connections and ease of assembly.
The eyes are forged and elongated, facilitating easy assembly and promoting more uniform stress distribution. For most of the turnbuckles (sizes 1/4"-2-1/2"), a shackle one size smaller can be reeved through the eye.
Superior Construction
Choose Crosby for turnbuckles that not only meet industry standards but set a new benchmark for reliability and performance due to a refined construction process.
Heat-Treated
Load-bearing end fittings undergo either normalizing or Crosby's unique Quenched and Tempered® methods, producing harder, tougher steel. The body is heat-treated by normalizing, resulting in superior impact and fatigue qualities.
Corrosion-Resistance
All Crosby jaw and eye turnbuckle components undergo hot-dip galvanizing to combat corrosion in harsh environments, ensuring longevity and reliability.
Stress-Minimizing Threading
Modified UNJ thread on end fittings minimizes stress at the root of the thread, improving fatigue properties. The body features UNC threads for enhanced performance.
Fatigue-Rated
Designed to meet specific fatigue performance levels, Crosby jaw and eye turnbuckles undergo rigorous testing, including a minimum of 20,000 cycles at 1-1/2 times the working load limit. Proof load is 2-1/2 times the working load limit, and ultimate load is 5 times the working load limit.
Industry Compliance
Components bear Crosby's logo, size, and Product Identification Code (PIC) to monitor and manage quality throughout the manufacturing process.
They meet or exceed all requirements of ASME B30.26, including identification, ductility, design factor, proof load, and temperature requirements. They also comply with Federal Specifications FF-T-791b, Type 1, Form 1, Class 8, and ASTM F-1145 (except for contractor requirements), adhering to critical performance standards.
NOTE: Turnbuckles are made for straight or in-line pull only.
