Tie Down Chain

US Cargo Control offers a wide variety of transport chain to fit your needs. This chain, along with higher-grade truck tie down chain assemblies, is often used in conjunction with chain binders to secure loads for transport.

Standard Grade 70 Transport Chain

Grade 70 transport chain is the standard in binder chain. It can be easily identified by its corrosion-resistant gold or yellow chromate finish, which is recognized industry-wide as the color for Grade 70.

This trucker's chain is the most common choice for flatbed trailer chain tie downs, and is also used for towing, logging, safety, and oil rigging applications.

Bulk Grade 70 Flatbed Chains

Need a lot of chain? Our chain sizes are sold in drum bulk quantities so you can create your own transport chain tie downs. We also carry complementary chain binders and chain hooks

Grade 80, Grade 100, and Grade 120 Tie Down Chain Assemblies

For higher working load limit requirements, you should consider our Grade 80, 100, or 120 trailer tie down chain options. Each offers superior abrasion and fatigue resistance over the traditional Grade 70.

The working load limits of grades 100 and 120 are also significantly higher - grade 100 is 25% stronger than grade 80, while grade 120 is 50% stronger for your heaviest loads.

Grade 80, 100, and 120 chain is available in bulk as well:

Tie Down Chain Working Load Limits

Grade WLL (lbs)

80 3,500 4,500 7,100 12,000 18,100
100 4,300 5,700 8,800 15,000 22,600

Trucking Chain End Fittings

Most of our transport chain and tie down chain assemblies come with grab hooks on each end which are designed to fit through a trailer rub rail with ease. They also have a shallow throat for secure connection to chain.

If you are looking for a chain tie down with the ability to connect to D-rings and other anchor points, check out our options with slip hooks. They have a wider throat and a latch to prevent accidental disconnections.

Tie Down Chain DOT-Compliance

For easy inspections and your peace of mind, all of our chains are DOT-compliant and meet or exceed MCSA CFR49 Section 393.104 and NACM Welded Steel Chain Specifications.

Each chain assembly is marked with a grade number, size, and the manufacturer.

Watch the below video to see a break strength test we conducted with US Cargo Control 5/16" transport chain and the chain of a popular competitor - ours broke after the NACM standard of 18,800 lbs.; theirs didn't even make it to 16,500 lbs.!
