Sling Protection for Chain Slings
Even though chain slings are made from high strength alloy steel, they still require sling protection when in use.
"Slings in contact with edges, corners, protrusions, or abrasive surfaces shall be protected with a material of sufficient strength, thickness, and construction to prevent damage." - ASME B30.9 (2021) 9-5.10.4(d)
Using chain sling protection will also help prevent the chain from damaging your load.
Types of Sling Protection for Chain Slings
We offer several styles, depending on your application and cargo.
The wear pads come in two materials: nylon or Cordura®. While both offer protection, if you need abrasion-resistance, Cordura® is the choice for you.
Heavy-Duty LiftGuard™ Chain Sling Protection
LiftGuard™ protectors attach to your load using recessed magnetics, ensuring the sling protection stays exactly where you need it.
The high-performance cast nylon construction allows it to withstand a large range of temperatures: from -20 to 220 degrees Fahrenheit. The heavy-duty style is specifically designed for use with chain slings.

Tubular Wear Pads
Of the three wear pad styles, tubular sleeves will last the longest. That's because the sleeve's configuration lets you change the points of contact with each load. Since the same points aren't doing the brunt of the work, the tubular pads tend to last longer.
They attach to your sling with Velcro®, making them easy to move around.

Quick Sleeve Wear Pads
Quick sleeves are very similar to the tubular pads - they also attach with Velcro®, but they have a different shape.
It's simple to move them up and down your sling, which assists with both application setup and sling inspection.

Sewn Sleeve Wear Pads
Sewn sleeves are a good option for long-term use on the same sling. Both sides are sewn together, so they aren't as easy to move from sling to sling.
